30 Day Countdown

By Mike Moore

Can you believe it’s already December? What a year it has been! But despite the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, your 2016 business year is not over yet. Though it might be tempting to kick back and cruise through this month, taking advantage of these next 30 days can help you end the year with a bang and start 2017 off on the right foot. Here are five things you should be doing to maximize your business before January.

1. Get Organized

The end of year is a great time to declutter! The task may seem daunting at first, but you’ll thank yourself later. Set aside a couple of hours each week through the rest of the month to tackle a new organizational task: cleaning out your truck, reorganizing your inbox, filing important paperwork, or purging unnecessary information. A tidy and organized space will help you keep your mind feeling the same way.

2. Look Back …

Review your results from 2016. What did you do this past year that you want to be sure to carry on into the next, and where are the areas in which you would like to improve? Are there places where you now realize you could have saved money? Look closely and take notes so that you can self-correct and easily implement these updates in business as you move forward.

3. … and Look Ahead

Take what you found from looking back at the previous year and use it to help you create a roadmap for what you want to see in the upcoming year. What can you do to better prepare for success? Set goals accordingly. Also, consider scheduling some updates to your technology or equipment. It will help keep your team working efficiently and productively, not to mention give both you and your employees something positive to look forward to.

4. Say Thanks

A little appreciation goes a long way for your customers and your employees. Consider sending personalized thank-you notes or holiday greeting cards to loyal clients. And don’t forget to reward your employees who have gone above and beyond. Whether it’s with an awards ceremony at your office holiday gathering or one-on-one performance reviews, acknowledging the merits of your employees will make them appreciate you and encourage them to keep working hard in the coming year.

5. Plan for Success

The key to keeping your company growing year after year is constant progress. Signing up for HVAC Learning Solutions classes, like BuildATech® or Master $elling, is a great way to build this into you and your team’s calendar. Check out the schedule on the HVAC Learning Solutions website to sign up now.

Enjoy the holiday season and use these tips to make the most of it as you do so. Cheers to a great end to this year — and an even better start to the next one!
