5 Lessons Techs & Salespeople Can Learn from the Harbaugh Bros.

If there's anyone who could teach you about success, it's the Harbaugh brothers.

The two NFL coaches, John and Jim, know what it takes to succeed and have performed on one of the world's most visible platforms when they competed in this year's Super Bowl. Here are five lessons that technicians and salespeople can learn from the Big Game brothers.

1. Relationships are important

After John and his Baltimore Ravens beat Jim and the San Francisco 49ers, the older brother said, "I love you." Jim responded with, "Congratulations."

Both brothers worked hard for the championship, but only one could win it. It must have been hard to reconcile after being enemies in the nation's biggest sporting event, but the brothers know the importance of relationships.

When you work with customers and clients, even if you don't agree about everything, you have to keep the relationship professional for success.

2. Be open and honest

Both brothers are notoriously honest, and known for wearing their emotions on their sleeves. One great example is John Harbaugh's visible disappointment of Manti Te'o's 40-yard dash.

You don't have to be that open, but being honest allows customers and clients to trust you more and that builds better relationships. This is especially true of technicians, your customers don't want to feel like they're being robbed and communicating with home and business owners will create a better experience for both of you.

3. Seeing potential

Jim Harbaugh saw potential in Colin Kaepernick and took the quarterback all the way from the draft to the Super Bowl. In fact, Kaepernick wasn't the team's starter until Harbaugh made the decision to make him the team's go-to quarterback over Alex Smith.

Seeing potential is vital to success.

For sales, not every client is going to be a whale, but each has the potential for good business.

4. "Attack this day with enthusiasm unknown to mankind."

Jim Harbaugh has made this quote popular in the locker room. It's true, in order to be the best you need to tackle every day with your best. The ability to capture success is all around you, but it's invisible to those who don't look for it.

5. "Who's got it better than us? Nobody."

This is the Harbaugh family motto that the boys' father, Jack Harbaugh, instilled in his sons. It's empowering, and something you should remind yourself of every day.

Recalling of all your achievements paves the way for future success.
