Although technicians know what a SEER rating means, that doesn't mean customers know - or even care. Improve your sales and customer service by knowing how to explain important features and technical terms.
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio)
Explained: This measures how efficient an HVAC system is. The higher the rating, the more efficient a system is.
AFUE (Annualized Fuel Utilization Efficiency)
Explained: Measures efficiency in furnaces and heating equipment only. While it doesn't necessarily measure the entire energy efficiency of a system, it indicates how the system will perform over a year's time.
MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value)
Explained: Rates the effectiveness of air filters. A rating of 16 captures more than 95 percent of particles over the full range (the higher the better).
